There's Gonna Be a Heartache Tonight

Tonight has the potential to be a rough night. Tonight was supposed to be the Spring Fling at GG's school - a night full of peace and love where you could let your inner flower child come out to dance.

As soon as I heard about this a month or so ago, I knew exactly what I would wear. I have this awesome light blue, floor length dress with flowers on it. I call it my hippie dress and it is one of, if not my favorite dress! GG wanted to wear her rainbow dress with flowers. It's not really a rainbow, but it is rather colorful.

I had planned on putting some little braids in her hair and some flower clips. Maybe even doing the same to my hair if my hair decided to cooperate. It usually doesn't. I had no idea what Little Dude would have worn, but I would have found something. These kids of mine have way too many clothes so there's a good chance there's always something for each occasion.

Anyflower, I got the phone call yesterday. The dance had been canceled. Only 20-some responses were received by the deadline, which was Wednesday. I'm sure it still wold have been fun, but you need a lot of people for a real dance. Plus, the more people increases your chances of making your money back from buying supplies. Hopefully they can reschedule.

As soon as I hung up the phone, I knew GG would be crushed. We were both really looking forward to this family fun night. I guess she heard the news during school because this was the first peace on info she gave me when walking out the door. It's funny how she went on and on about this, but when I asked what she did the rest of the day in school... "Nothing"! Oi vay! I knew she was heartbroken because she was rather crabby the rest of the day. Ok, really crabby. Every little thing Little Dude said or did set her off. Sometimes I could swear she's a teen trapped in an 8 year olds body!

Unfortunately this weekend is rather busy with soccer and Mother's Day stuff, but hopefully next weekend we can find somewhere to go so she can wear her dress before she outgrows it.

Until next time...

What about taking her out for an early dinner and letting her dress up in the outfit, or having a special girls only tea party at home and dressing up for that?

Poor girl! Let's hope it gets rescheduled. I bet it would have been fun, even with only 20 people!

So sorry the dance was cancelled! it sounds like you were all set to have a great time. I just dropped by from SITS to say hi; hope you will do the same.

Yes, you should definitely go out for a fun girl's night, just for you two! And take a picture so that we can see how cute you looked.
