You Want What For Your Birthday?!

WIMTS

I've been known to stick the button for whatever Meme I'm partiipating in at the end of a post, but do you see that up there? Too flippin cute!!! Love it ladies!

What is that adorable button for, you ask? It's for What I Meant to Say Wednesday. The Chief used to do it, but she auctioned off the rights with the proceeds going to Monkey (click the button over there for details on Monkey --->).

Brittany Ciara and Angel are now the proud owners, er, hosts. To kick their new meme off, they are going to do a giveaway if there are at least 25 link-ups. So make a post and go link! I want to win!

********************************

Every Wednesday, Little Dude has soccer practice. We're almost at the end of the Spring season so by now, the kids and the coach all get along pretty well. In other words, the kids want to tell the coach all the nitty-gritty on their lives. Last week one of the little boys told his team mates that he just celebrated his birthday. This got them all going on what they wanted for their birthdays.

Little Dude: "Know what I want for my birfday?"

Coach D: "What?"

Little Dude: "I want anover digger!"

Coach D: "A what?"

Little Dude: "A digger"

Coach D:
"Another Diego?"

Little Dude: "No, a digger."

Coach D:
"A dago?"

*confused look by Little Dude*

Coach D: "Oh, a digger. That's nice."

What I did... bite my tongue and laugh.

What I wanted to say... A Dago?!? Are you friggin serious? I don't know about you, but in our house those words are not spoken. Maybe there's another meaning behind that word, but I can only think of one. And it's not nice!

*
*From Urbandictionary.com - "a highly offensive racial slur for an Italian". I'm really hoping the coach didn't realize what he said.**

If my son even starts embarrassing the crap out of me by asking people what a "Dago" is, I have your number, Mr. Coach!

I know that your son looks like a girl and has even been mistaken for a girl, but I know for a fact he does not act like one. I see him being a ball hog every single week and trying to wrestle (too rough IMO) with the team, girls included. Assuming he is the one boy out there who does not play with construction vehicles, commonly known as diggers because, well, they dig, I would at least think you have the sense to think a digger may be a shovel or something. Good gravy, man!

Thank goodness this conversation went in one ear and out the other (like most do). It's hard enough trying to have the big girl talks with GG. I don't need to have a talk with Little Dude about racial slurs!

Until next time....

Okay, I will admit that I went to Urban Dictionary.com and looked up dago, because I too didn't know what it meant. Now that I know, shame on you coach! Go jump in a lake! :)

Thanks for playing WIMTS with us, and thanks for the comment on the button. Amber did a great job! Hope to see you next week!

I had to look it up too! It must be a regional thing, lol. I probably would've been as confused as the coach!

LOL That is hysterical. I am in the "knowing" club too - mostly because my family used to lovingly call my cousin that (thru and thru Italian looking) We didn't mean it offensively, just teasingly - and he never took it meanly (Thank goodness)

Ok, seriously funny....lmao ;)

I used to work in Uniontown, PA so I knew what that was right away. Shame, shame, coach!

Oh yeah, that's not a word you'd be wanting him to throw around casually!
