People Amaze Me

Today was election day and if you have girls old enough to be in Girl Scouts, you know what that means....

BAKE SALE

Now I'm a leader for GG's troop this year and sitting at the table for 2 hours is part of my job. That is 2 hours of my life that I will never get back! I have never been so bored in my life!! And to top it off, the table was set up in the middle of the front hall directly across from the front door.

IT. WAS. COLD!!!!

Thankfully while we were there we had someone to talk to. There was an older man there passing out fliers trying to get your vote as you walked in the door. He was a very nice man and I enjoyed his company. But he was not the brightest crayon in the box.

One of the names he was trying to get out there was a friend of mine who is running for school board. After an hour of trying not to eat all the baked goods sitting there I see this man come in to exercise his civil duties. The guy giving me company approached him and started explaining who so-and-so was and you needed to write his name in to vote for him. Well, the man who he was talking to was this so-and-so. If you're going to push names on people, please make sure you know the face that goes with the name to avoid embarrassing the crap out of yourself!!!

After an hour, the name pusher's replacement came in. I guess he was a volunteer fire fighter. Are high school seniors old enough to do that? Anywho, he had his radio with him, and oh the stories we heard! I think the best was about a guy in the neighborhood who was releasing raccoons. That wouldn't be a problem if we lived in east jabib, but we don't. I have no desire to deal with another raccoon thank you very much!

Aw, man, I just went through old posts and I don't see the raccoon story. Here's the Cliff Notes version.....1/2 dead raccoon laying in yard at 5pm; call police; they "take care of it" right in my front yard (ewww!!!)

I think to this day the kids still think someone was setting off fireworks at 5pm that day.

People never cease to amaze me with their stupidity lack of judgement.

But there are good people out there who make up for those who are a few crayons short of a full box. One of those would be GG's soccer coach. He informed us after the game last Sunday that there would be no practice this week. Firstly, it's the last practice so it's no big deal. Secondly, the high school doesn't turn on the field lights so the kids wouldn't be able to see what they were doing anyway! He informed us that we would meet at a local pizza shop and he would buy the kids dinner.

First off, this pizza shop rocks and it rocks hard!!!!

We are Spartan groupies and will not,

I repeat,

WILL NOT

betray their deliciousness!

Plus you save $100 worth of receipts
you get a free pizza

Second, I didn't have to cook.

Any night that I don't have to cook is a good night.

There were a few parents that asked if he was coaching in the Spring in the hopes their kid could be on his team again. I would sign GG up in the Spring just to have him as a coach. I know it's not a guarantee, but it's worth the chance. He did an awesome job!

And now I must load up on caffeine prepare for the hockey game.

Oh snap! Wrong one...he he
Let me try this again...

Why, oh why do we have to play on the West coast?!? If the game doesn't start til 10 then it won't be over til midnight or later. I can't make it that long without passing out. We better destroy them early so there is no chance of the Ducks catching up and winning.

Sorry if you're a Ducks fan.....maybe.

Until next time...

Ah Girl Scout cookies! I don't know how you sat there for 2 hours in front of those cookies and didn't devour them!

Sometimes people are so stupid that's for sure!

My idiot husband left the garage door open one night. I went out there to throw something away and a racoon the size of a 2 year old jumped out of our trash can. It scared me to death!
