It's gonna be a long weekend!

Around this time of year for the past 3 years, C has gone to Chicago with a buddy of his. He gets to take in all the sights (and food) of the city, but most importantly, he goes to a Bears game.

This is the picture he sent me about 2 hours ago
so I'm assuming they made it to Chicago in 1 piece.
Ok, not the exact picture. This is courtesy of Google.
I have no idea how to get my pictures from my phone on to here.

It's really cool that he gets this opportunity, but it usually makes for one long weekend for me. Last year was the worst. We were potty training Little Dude. He was almost there, but as soon as C left, Little Dude regressed. If he knows what's good for him, he better not pull that this time! What I've learned from the few trips C has been able to take is that our boy DOES NOT like change!

Maybe this time will be different.

I hope.

I absolutely HATE being in the house alone, especially at night. Which is why I hung out at the school for close to 4 hours. There was a flu shot clinic there and the PTA was also holding a bake sale for my friend battling Pancreatic cancer. I had nothing else to do and I wasn't in the mood to listen to the kids bicker at home so I helped them out. Little Dude and GG got to play with their friends whose parents were also there helping, which was great for them! We didn't have a lot of customers, but every little bit helps. And it was nice for me to be able to have adult conversations that did not include SpongeBob and Little Bear (Little Dude's new favorite show).

And by the way, I will be happy
if I never have to make another brownie in my life.

EVER!!!

I made 4 friggin batches this week!!!

After the bake sale, we went to dinner with my mom to a new Mexican restaurant. O-M-G!!! Deeee-licious!!!! I was really craving some Chi Chi's enchiladas, which I obviously can never eat again. NO I am not pregnant...C has been going to Moe's for lunch this past week and all the talk of their food put me in the mood for some Mexican stuff. Anyways, I think this restaurant has replaced my love for Chi Chi's.

So now we are home and the kids are in bed. It's time for the part of the trip that I absolutely hate. Maybe if I sing Little Dude's new song, it will keep me laughing and take my mind off of this too quiet house.

"Boogers do not belong in your mouth
They belong in your nose!"

Until next time...

My husband's int he army, and for the longest time whenever he went away, my oldest would regress with the toilet training. That finally seems to have stopped now, so I'm sure it's just a normal thing kids do when change freaks them out!
And I have a friend who worked on Little Bear in Toronto! Small world!!

I know what you mean, my hubby has been gone at least one day a week for work and I hate a quiet house. Every noise I hear is someone trying to break in.

I hope you have a great weekend. I know how you feel about when your husband is away, I miss him so dearly. The house creaks. That I didn't know about until he was gone.

When the kids get older, it will get easier being in the house without the hubs. It used to really freak me out too
