Daddy's Girl

The Sweetheart Dance is something that Girl Scouts in my area do every year. Since I'm now a leader and go to the leader meetings I hear what all goes into making this happen. If you read this post, than you know these "planning sessions" aren't always pretty. But in the end things work themselves out. I also learned this year that our service area usually looses money on this dance. But they go ahead with it anyway because the girls enjoy it.

Let me clarify exactly what the Sweetheart Dance is. It's not a dance where the girls bring their boyfriends. As a matter of fact, that is not allowed. It's a father-daughter dance. After hearing that money is lost on making this dance happen, I told Chris that he HAS to take GG to it this year. GG is such a daddy's girl and he knows this. That's the only reason he said he'd go. Why doesn't he want to go? The other dads are different and he can't relate to them. Like my mom said, maybe Chris is the one who's different, but I guess it really doesn't matter. It's all about perspective, right?

GG was so excited to dress up. She wanted to wear a dress, as in a one piece dress. Well, she doesn't have any of those, but she did pick out a flower skirt and matching shirt. I've had this outfit for 2 years now and I am so glad she can finally fit into it. She also picked out dangle earrings. For an 8 year old, being able to wear those kind of earrings mean everything! GG was also floored when I said she could wear make-up. She has quite a collection and I figure we might as well use it. Her make-up consists of Hannah Montana glitter eye shadow and a ton of lip gloss. Did I mention a TON of lip gloss?!? I really don't consider any of that real make-up. And she's only allowed to wear it on special occasions, like this dance.

After GG and I picked her outfit out Friday night, I pointed out that her and Chris would somewhat match. They were both going to wear on outfit that was some shade of blue. I am quite surprised that he didn't give me any crap about matching. I think complaining that he had to dress up in the first place wore him out. You have to understand that this is the man who could, and usually does wear ripped up old jeans and a t-shirt to work. That is a perfectly acceptable wardrobe choice for his job, too. I guess that's one perk of working in the programming field!

Sweetheart

Until next time...

She looks beautiful and I can see the pride in Daddy's eyes, even if he didn't want to go, he still has the joy of being DADDY in this pic.

Awww...that pic is so sweet. :)

And I love that he sacrificed his own personal comfort. That, my dear, is true love. ;)
