Fantastically terrifying

Last Sunday we took the kids to a local amusement park. The day started off kind of rough because Little Dude was not as tall as we thought. Luckily we could get his hand stamped with his height at the guest services station. That meant we wouldn't hold up any lines when the employees questioned his height.

Even though Little Dude wasn't tall enough for the roller coaster he wanted to go one (not even 2 inches too short), he was able to ride many other things he couldn't do last year. As a matter of fact, we didn't even go near Kiddie Land. Except when we stopped for ice cream, which is located right next to the entrance.

GG on the other hand is tall enough for every single ride in the park. I think I was more excited over this than she was.

During the weeks leading up to the big day, she told anyone and everyone that she was going to ride the Phantom.

Phantom's Revenge

"Phantom's Revenge is one of the fastest roller coasters in the world.
Unlike most coasters, the biggest drop on this ride is not the first but the second--
a whopping 230 feet, reaching speeds of 85 mph."

For hours, she nibbled on her fingernails and said she wasn't sure if she was ready. Finally the husband convinced her to go. The line at the time wasn't all that long, but it felt like forever. Unfortunately it didn't work out where I rode the same time GG and the husband did. All I could do was wit my turn and hope that she enjoyed it. I kept telling her she would. I don't like to be wrong!

When we all met up at the exit, the husband admitted he thought GG was going to hate him forever. He couldn't tell if her screams were from terror or enjoyment. GG's first words when she got off the ride? It rocked.

From that point on, she was ready to hit up every ride in the park. Except the one that went upside down. Maybe next year. Instead she rode the newest coaster not once, but twice. 0-50 in 3 seconds, inversions, and corkscrews - my kind of ride. And now they are GG's kind of rides. I am so excited to have another coaster enthusiast in the family!

Sky Rocket

The Sky Rocket - the park's newest coaster.

You can't see all of the twists and turns in this picture, but the sunset was so gorgeous. I just had to get a picture of it through the tracks while we waited for our turn.

I haven't been to Kennywood in ages! That first hill is terrifying! I love coasters but not the clicking going up... gets me every time!

How awesome that she loved it!!

KENNYWOOD! I love Kennywood.

We recently went there... my 10 year old LOVES the Phantom, and has for a couple years... was finally tall enough to ride the Thunderbolt this year (she's tiny for her age!) and said she was going to ride the sky coaster but totally chickened out after we waited in line. She isn't quite ready for upsidedown! I loved it, though!

Wow that is a BIG ride! It's hard to let them do things for the first time...my son rode a bigger ride this year {well big for him} and I was so nervous. He came off and said, "I dont think I'll go on that again." I had to laugh...at least he tried it.

Glad she loved the ride!
