I'm Changing My Name

Yes, soccer season starts this week. For GG anyway. And the one time I forgot to mention on the registration which nights weren't good is the season she has practice on a bad night.
Due to Brownies, she'll have to miss every other practice. But I want her to go this week because it's the first practice.

My mom agreed to take her - thanks Mom!!!

But remember that 3 feet of snow we had that just melted? It is a mud pit out there!
And let's pretend my house is at sea level...
That would make her practice field on the ocean floor.

I saw this in my horoscope today.
It's a reference to friends.
So to anyone I've formed a friendship with out there
Thank You!

Barbie GirlWordful Wednesday

Amy over at Keeping up with the Schultz Family tagged me with this fun little game. And it just happens to go right along with Wordful Wednesday. I love to talk, especially when it comes to my kids. But unfortunately I am fighting some nasty bug and can't talk much above a whisper. But that can't stop me from typing about my kids, right?!

The rules of this Photo Tag are to open your first picture folder, go to the 10th picture and describe it. Well, here is my 10th photo from said folder...


I took this photo of GG a few weeks ago. The little doll thing laying on her is her mp3 player. It's a Barbie girl. Not only can you load music on this, and surprisingly a good bit of music, too! But Barbie comes with accessories - shirts, plants, skirts, shoes... the works! GG loves to sing. Usually she makes up her own songs and some days she thinks she'll grow up to be a rock star.

For an 8 year old, her voice really isn't all that bad. But she has those er buds in, it's a whole different ballgame! I love my daughter and of course I would never say this to her face, but she cannot hold a tune to save her life when she has ear buds in! And I'm sure we all have met that person who doesn't realize just how loud they are when singing along to their music. They have to sing louder in order to sing over their music. But then a good song comes on so the volume goes up, thus causing their voice to go up in volume as well.

Hmmm... I wonder if this is why she doesn't listen. It's not the typical selective hearing that a child has. She's going deaf. Ya, that has to be it!

Prom Night

It's been a while since I've joined SupahMommy and MommyBrain for their All About Meme Monday, but this is one topic that I can NOT pass up!

I could go all sweet and tell you about this picture...

And yes, that is my now husband.
I know, how sweet.

Junior Prom was a lot of fun. A bunch of us piled into someone's van and went as a group. And just to clarify, "someone" means a person that was part of our group, not a total stranger, which is what that sounds like now that I re-read it. I just don't remember whose van it was. We had to stop at a Wendy's for directions and then try to get out of the parking lot onto the main road without losing the other car that was following us. That was kind of tricky! We ate, danced, made fun of one of our friends who wore a suit and old tennis shoes. And we hung out at the pool in the courtyard at the hotel where the dance was.

As fun as that night was, that is not the prom I want to talk about. The most memorable school dance for me, and not all in a good way, was Senior Rec. It was kind of like a prom that seniors had every year. It took place on one of the Majestic boats downtown. Again, there was a group of us who went together.

But I did love that blue dress!

We thought it was going to be a rainy night, which is never good when you're on a boat, but it turned out to be a rather nice night. We hung out inside dancing like fools and taking all kinds of crazy pictures. I wish I had those but I don't. We also spent a lot of time on the decks of the boat - enjoying the cool breeze, looking at the lights along the river. Now at this point, you're probably thinking that it sounds like Senior Rec was pretty fun, and it was, but I did mention that not all the memories are good ones. Let me tell you why...

Before the night of the big dance, Chris and I had talked about what color dress I was going to wear. We wanted to color coordinate like we had for dances in the past. I told him that my dress was blue so he decided to wear his blue suit. Pretty close to dance day he decides to inform me that he would also wear a blue tie-dye shirt. It would match the suit and really, I didn't have a problem with it at the time. We were a little crazy and I thought it was a good idea. Well, then he showed up at my door...

Wait for it.....

Here it comes....

BLAM-O!!!

I look so thrilled, don't I?

If you look at his tie you'll notice that

THE REST OF HIS ATTIRE!!!!!!

His tie had some sort of wooded scene with an owl on it.
How the hell does that go with a tie-dye shirt?!?

I was so excited to go to said dance.
We would be that couple
everyone would talk about the next day
"Did you see the shirt he wore? Awesome!!!"

From the moment Chris walked in the door
those thoughts turned to
"Did you see that tie he wore? WTH?"
And I would be associated with that.

To this day I still remind Chris
of that poor wardrobe decision.
He finds it funny. Still.
But I didn't and I never will.

If I Meet More PeopleMaybe I Will Make It Out Alive

Wow has it been a busy day so far. I can't really say it started this morning because my husband is just awesome and lets me sleep in on the weekends. But after I finally got up and had my liquid gold, aka coffee, we headed out. First we went to the food co-op. It stinks that it's a little pricey, but after eating like crap for the past month or 3 it was worth it. Then we headed over to Whole Foods. I love, love, LOVE that store! I stocked up on some healthy snacks for the kids. Then we had sushi for lunch. The kids usually get some sort of vegetable rolls, but they love it. The only thing that irks me about going out for sushi is that everyone can use chopsticks but me. Yes, even Little Dude, who is 4.

So now we're home and I finally get to sit down for a bit. The kids are eating some grapes. Thank goodness they have something to put in their mouths now because I was close to killing grounding them. And GG is already grounded. She doesn't need to make things worse.

So anyway, I'm now home and I thought I would see if there were any good posts out there to catch up on. Well, guess what. I found one! SupahMommy is trying to be a Twitter hoarder help her stalkers friends increase their Twitter traffic. I'm all for that!

My Etsy Preview

I taught myself to crochet last year. I wanted a new hobby and thought maybe crocheting was something I could do. I went to the craft store and found a kit. It had a few hooks, some other little accessories and a how-to book. I picked a few pretty balls of yarn and went home to see what I could make.

It turned out I could make a wicked chain, but that was about it. All I have to say is thank goodness for You Tube! I quickly figured out what I was doing and starting making a few projects. After a few months I realized that I couldn't keep making stuff for the 4 of us. So I moved on to making a boatload of Christmas presents. But after Christmas, then what? That's when I decided I would open my own Etsy store.


I am quite excited to announce that my store is now open. But before you go clicking away at the above button, I will warn you that the store is still empty. Unfortunately I fell a little behind and still have a few loose ends to tie up. Yes, pun intended!

But I will give you a preview of some of the things that will be in my store shortly.
